What are the
duties of
the Lt.
Governor?
Often people
ask that
question
because,
frankly,
past Lt.
Governors —
both
Democrat and
Republican —
haven’t done
anything.
So I’d like
to tell you
what the Lt.
Governor
does and if
elected, how
I will make
those duties
work for
you!
The Lt.
Governor:
-
Assumes
the
duties
of the
Governor
in his
or her
absence
-
Is
President
of the
Senate
-
Is
Regent
of the
University
of
California
and
Trustee
of the
California
State
University
System
-
Chairs
the
Commission
for
Economic
Development
-
Is a
Member
of the
California
World
Trade
Commission;
-
and is a
Member
of the
State
Lands
Commission.
Chairs
other
important
commissions
and task
force
If elected I
will be a
real leader
in the
Senate
guiding the
legislature
to represent
the people,
not
corporations
and special
interests.
I’ll be a
strong
regent for
the UC and
Cal State
systems,
ensuring our
children are
not kept out
of the
system
because they
don’t have
the money to
attend. I’ll
foster real
economic
growth for
the people,
enacting
fair
policies in
the
California
World Trade
Commission
and ensuring
economic and
cultural
ties with
Mexico speak
to
compassion,
fairness and
a living
wage for all
workers.
I’ll hold
road trips
throughout
the state to
build
support to:
·Amend 3
Strikes to
violent
felonies
only.
·End the
death
penalty
·End the
prison
industrial
complex –
schools not
jails
·Ensure
Healthcare
and housing
for all
·Lower fees
for college
& Stop the
50% high
school
drop-out
rate
·Bring the
troops home
·Ensure a
living wage
for all
workers –
citizen,
undocumented,
all
There are
six people
running for
this office,
two are
entrenched
politicians.
Look at
their views
on the death
penalty and
Three
Strikes and
tell me you
can vote for
someone who
favors
keeping a
petty thief
in prison
for life.
And then
there’s me -
Financial
Manager and
Grassroots
Activist
Donna
Warren.
My record is
solid –
financial
manager,
advocate for
the
community,
organizer.
If you want
real change
in
Sacramento,
you should
support my
campaign
because I
will bring
to the
debate an
intelligent
discussion
on the
wholesale
imprisonment
of our sons
and
daughters,
health care,
jobs,
schools,
transportation,
immigration
and housing.
We need to
transform
what
Californians
believe in
their hearts
into how
they vote on
election
day.
I represent
the best of
what our
politicians
could be. I
am not a
spineless
Democrat or
a criminal
Republican;
I am a Green
and believe
in social
justice for
all of us.
Shirley
Chisholm was
a great
legislator,
the first
Black woman
in Congress.
Congresswoman
Chisholm was
unbought and
unbossed.
I carry the
legacy of
Shirley
Chisholm, I
am unbought
and unbossed.
So my
question to
you is, why
are you
still
supporting
spineless
Democrats
who refuse
to stand up
for our
rights? In
2004, the
mantra was
“anyone but
Bush”. Don’t
use this
tired mantra
to keep me
out of the
Lt.
Governor’s
office.
Instead,
become a
Million
Votes for
Peace (MVP)
supporter
and send a
message to
Sacramento.
‘We want
leadership
for the
people.
We want
leaders who
will stand
for what’s
right’.
My candidacy
for Lt.
Governor
will
organize the
youth,
challenge
the mass
incarceration
of LA, and
build peace
in the
neighborhood.
I care about
our
children.
I care about
women
rights. I
care about
gay rights.
I care about
people. I am
the only
candidate
who received
a 100%
rating from
CARAL, the
national
organization
for women’s
reproductive
rights. I am
the only
choice for
Lt.
Governor!
