Thank you for clicking on “endorsement questionnaires”. Now you’ve seen what “progressive organizations” saw when they went ahead, ignored my progressive views, and endorsed the Democrat anyway. Let be straightforward here – the progressive organizations who endorsed John Garamendi were going to endorse him anyway (sight unseen) because it’s hard to leave the plantation when you’re jockeying for power. “I can't repeat it enough. If you want change, vote for change. Vote for what you crave for. Vote for hope. Don't vote out of fear. You can't change a system by continually voting the system in out of fear and disinformation. Trust your instincts. Ignore the fearmongers and the naysayers.” - Gilles d'Aymery, Voting One's Conscience http://www.swans.com/library/art12/ga216.html The progressives asked a lot of questions on social justice, the prison industrial complex, the environment, the Death Penalty, Three Strikes, Healthcare, Reproductive Choice, Privatization, Affirmative Action, School Vouchers, Campaign Finance Reform (including Public Campaign Financing), Schwarzenegger’s Infrastructure Bond, governmental funding of AIDS education, homelessness and welfare reform, and education but try as I may, I can’t find Mr. Garamendi’s opinion on these very critical issues. Mr. Garamendi is very careful not to comment on issues in the public domain which makes me wonder how “progressive organizations” can endorse candidates who have no position or refuse to state a position. There is one issue Mr. Garamendi did comment on (and it got him in trouble). In 2004, Mr. Garamendi endorsed “Same-Gender Couples’ Right to Marry” but 30 years ago when Garamendi was an assemblyman, he voted against the bill to repeal the sodomy laws. When you’re on the plantation, you put the master’s wishes before your own needs. Case in point - The Gay and Lesbian Times and the Stonewall Democrats (openly GLBT) endorsed John Garamendi. If anyone can tell me why gay organizations endorse the man who votes to prosecute them for adult acts in the privacy of their own homes, please tell me because I'd love to know. |
